Grown for UK oil and feed markets

Precision-Grown Oilseed Rape from Our Herefordshire Farm

Oilseed rape plays a vital role in our regenerative rotations at Ditton Farm. As a deep-rooting brassica, it helps improve soil structure, adds organic matter, and disrupts pest and disease cycles — all while contributing to a more resilient and productive soil system.

Agronomic benefit and market performance

Grown across our fields in Herefordshire, our oilseed rape is chosen and managed for both agronomic benefit and market performance. Tap roots break through compaction, improve water movement, and recycle nutrients from deep within the soil profile. As the crop flowers, it supports pollinators with early-season nectar and pollen, enhancing biodiversity alongside its role in the rotation.

The harvested crop is sold into the UK crushing market, supplying oil and animal feed, and contributing to a circular, British-grown supply chain. Straw is used for biomass boilers providing heat to broiler chickens, again circular farming minimising waste and ensuring everything on the farm is used.
