Herefordshire Wheat for the UK Feed Supply

A rotational crop supporting soil health, energy systems, and flexible markets

At Ditton Farm, wheat is a consistent part of our rotation, with both winter and spring varieties chosen for their soil benefits, rotational fit, and market potential. As a Herefordshire wheat grower focused on regenerative cereal farming, we produce feed wheat, sold via Frontier. Varieties are selected based on vigour, disease resistance, and local performance data.

Our wheat supports the British feed supply, contributes straw for circular systems, and helps us maintain balance across a demanding crop cycle.

Why We Grow It

Our wheat supports the British feed wheat supply, contributes straw for circular systems, and helps us maintain balance across a demanding crop cycle.

Wheat helps us:

• Establish solid stubble cover over winter
• Produce clean straw for use or resale
• Build bulk into our rotation while supporting field margins
• Manage workload timing across harvest cycles

We grow our own wheat for our chickens, with all grain milled locally at the Tram Inn in Allensmore.
